Unveiling the Magic of Splash

Published on 19 May 2023 at 04:01

The Splash Team, established in 2017, uses the power of artificial intelligence (AI) in collaboration with professional music producers and vocalists to bring the joy of music creation to a global audience. Through their innovative AI-powered tools, Splash enables anyone to create and perform music in virtual venues, captivating both seasoned musicians and aspiring creators alike.

One of their standout offerings, the "Splash Music and Beat Maker" app, is available for free on iOS and Android platforms. This app grants users access to an extensive library of sound packs, allowing them to experiment across various genres and create DJ sets. While temporarily unavailable due to funding issues, the app has made a return and continues to expand its collection with new song packs, including premium options. Users can record their sets and mix and match different packs, providing endless possibilities. Additionally, Splash has a team of talented singers and rappers who regularly contribute their voices to different packs, ensuring a diverse and engaging experience for players while maintaining their anonymity. While the identity of the pack creators and producers remains undisclosed, one singer, Bianca Power, has been confirmed and can be heard on packs such as "Distant" and "Float."

Although the Splash Team, headquartered in Australia, may have remained relatively unknown, their recent success with a Roblox adaptation titled "SPLASH ⭐ Skate & Music" has propelled them into the spotlight. The accompanying website invites users to embrace their dreams of becoming superstars, skate pros, music producers, graffiti artists, or club creators, offering a unique and immersive experience. Since its creation on April 23, 2020, the Roblox adaptation has amassed over 326.0 million visits from gamers worldwide. Seamlessly capturing the essence of the original app, the Roblox version introduces a whole new dimension by creating a vibrant online world.

Within the Roblox experience, players can practice and perform unlimited DJ sets in a virtual realm. Starting in the City Center, newcomers receive a tutorial to acquaint themselves with the game. The objective extends beyond mere enjoyment and musical connection—it involves gaining fans and climbing the ranks. Many aspire to achieve the coveted "Legend" status, one of the highest attainable ranks. Players can visit clubs crafted by both the developers and fellow players. With customizable sets featuring stage props and exciting special effects, players' performances are rated by their peers.

The virtual pop star Kai stands as Splash's iconic figure, releasing genuine music on streaming platforms as well as making them playable packs for users. Upon reaching "Legend" status, players have the opportunity to meet Kai within the game and receive a personalized pack featuring their Roblox avatar’s render as the cover art.

There are also Splash “Celebrities” who have earned that title by having a large impact on the playerbase, such as being a popular Splash Youtuber. “Celebrities” will also receive their own pack featuring original music.

Currently, Splash is in the process of developing a new game for Steam, titled Splash Music Festival. This game will offer a comprehensive experience, integrating the features of both the app and the Roblox adaptation. Players will be able to connect their Roblox accounts in the official Discord by transferring their progress and data to access the beta version. Fans have noted that the game's graphics bear resemblance to Saints Row IV, featuring a sprawling neon city that surpasses its Roblox counterpart in scale.

The power of music has brought together a tight-knit community within Splash, echoing the sentiments expressed by Kai herself. Dedicated players log in daily, diligently working their way up to the esteemed "Immortal" rank, aiming to become the best DJ. Currently, over 500 players have achieved "Legend" status, a testament to the time and dedication invested. Recently, Splash released a significant update, granting players with a "Superstar" ranking and above the ability to create their own custom packs. This update has fostered a surge of active players, and the Splash Team shows no signs of halting their support anytime soon.

Part 2 - Finding Solace and Connection in the Depths of Splash

When Harmonix abruptly halted support for their beloved DJ game Fuser, a profound sense of disappointment washed over its dedicated fanbase. Fuser, a unique gem, had been neglected and underpromoted by its developers, leaving the fans to carry the weight. While the single-player mode remained functional, all downloadable content, multiplayer modes, and the game itself were delisted or removed, leaving behind a mere shell of its former glory. The tight-knit community that had poured countless hours into the online modes suddenly found themselves fragmented. As an individual, I had formed an intense attachment to Fuser, and its end left an indelible mark on my soul. To say that I loved this game would be an understatement.

In the wake of Fuser's end, an Xbox friend recommended that I explore a game on Roblox called Splash. Initially unfamiliar with Splash and harboring minimal enthusiasm for Roblox, I approached it with skepticism. However, the void within me yearned for a new gaming community to fill it, and so I decided to give it a chance. Creating a new Roblox account, I plunged into the unknown. At first, the experience felt somewhat rudimentary, lacking the familiar splendor of Fuser. Yet, to my surprise, I became ensnared in its addictive grasp, unable to tear myself away. Soon enough, I found myself playing Splash daily, often staying up into the wee hours of the night, enthralled by its captivating allure.

Initially, I felt somewhat isolated in Splash, as I had no friends who shared my enthusiasm for the game, except for that solitary Xbox friend. But as I grew more acquainted with the mechanics and intricacies of the game, the community began to reveal itself to me. Veteran players warmly greeted me, welcoming me into their virtual clubs and cheering me on during my DJ sets. Given my experience with Fuser and my own ventures into music production in the real world, I swiftly grasped the controls, evolving into a formidable DJ from the early stages of my Splash journey.

In the ensuing months, my DJ skills flourished, and I found myself forming genuine friendships with fellow Splash players. As time progressed, I began to realize that I had become somewhat of a recognizable figure within the community. It felt surreal that people started acknowledging my username. Each day I logged in, new connections blossomed, and laughter filled the chat as we jammed out and supported one another.

Seeking to forge deeper connections beyond the confines of Roblox, I joined the Splash Discord server, where I could connect with fellow players outside the virtual realm. Utilizing my graphic design skills, I started creating my own Splash pack renders, eager to contribute to the vibrant community. My rapid progress propelled me to become a verified professional render artist for the Splash community.

This experience of forging virtual connections with individuals from all corners of the globe has left me awestruck. What initially seemed like a lackluster game has now become the centerpiece of my gaming endeavors. Splash has made a wonderful "splash" in my life, transforming a once-empty void into a thriving oasis of music and camaraderie.
